Copenhagen focuses on innovative IT solutions

The City of Copenhagen wants to put more focus on the possibility of applying innovative ICT solutions to municipal tasks. For this reason, the City has awarded the network Crossroads Copenhagen a three-year grant of 1.3 million DKK per year

In doing so, the City of Copenhagen is contributing greatly to Crossroads Copenhagen’s work in the establishment of large, sustainable projects, in which innovation in both public and private settings is paving the way for solutions to societal challenges with the help of ICT.

The City of Copenhagen wants to create learningprojects using new media for the benefit of children and youth as well as strengthening Crossroads Copenhagen’s contribution to health, environment and democracy via the grant.

Therefore the City of Copenhagen has taken initiative for a children- and youth summit on the climate which will combine learning with environmental and democratic themes. Youth delegations from 36 countries will meet for the large-scale summit in 2009. As part of the initiative, an internet-based ’climate universe’ will be established. Crossroads Copenhagen has assisted in defining the parameters and finding the right partners for collaboration in the development of the climate universe. The internet-based climate universe will give youth means to gain knowledge about climate and environment, as well as providing an opportunity to discuss and share their ideas, and in doing so experience the practical functioning of democracy.
